Guest issues press release announcing her candidacy

LISBON — A Summit County assistant prosecutor who lives in West Township is running for Columbiana County Municipal Court judge.

Heaven Guest filed candidacy petitions on Wednesday with the Columbiana County Board of Elections to seek the Democratic nomination for the county municipal court judgeship currently held by Tim McNicol, a Republican.

For the past 16 year Guest has worked as an assistant county prosecutor in Summit County, where she has handled felony prosecutions, juvenile cases and appeals, including death penalty cases. She has argued before the Ohio Supreme Court on 12 occasions, and previously served as a clerk for Judge Nader in the Ohio 11th District Court of Appeals.

Guest also teaches at the University of Akron Police Academy.

“It would be an honor to serve my fellow citizens of Columbiana County. I look forward to providing the citizens with a choice in this election,” she said, in a press release.

Guest and her husband, James, a retired Summit County sheriff’s deputy, live on Rochester Road in West Township with their three dogs.
