County BDD to hold job fair

The Columbiana County Board of Developmental Disabilities is hosting a job fair from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday for individuals interested in a career in the DD field. The job fair will focus on the recruitment of direct support professionals who will be hired to provide care to the developmentally disabled clients served by the agency. Several agencies that employ staff for this purpose will be on-site to discuss employment opportunities. The event will be held at the CCBDD Training Center located at 7675 state Route 45 in Lisbon. DAHS grads planning reunion

The Lisbon David Anderson High School Class of 1969 will gather for lunch at 1 p.m. Feb. 16 at Boneshakers in Salem. Plans for the 50th year reunion this year will be discussed. Some events will coincide with the school’s all-class reunion to be held in July. Another event for just the class of 1969 is being planned for the fall. Would like input from all class members. Romantic tales to be shared

Jim Kleefeld will present Ohio’s Romantic Tragedies at the Columbiana Public Library, from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday. Stories of couples, famous and unknown, whose lives became entwined and then entangled. Intriguing tales of love, romance and subsequent tragedy will be shared. Hear stories, see displays, investigate history, discover books and research from the 1920s, ’30s and ’40s, the era of an often mis-remembered past. You will see and learn about a 1933 license plate, a strange wedding photo, a rich family that simply squandered away its fame and fortune, and more. The free program is open to all ages. CPR focus of library program

A cardiac pulmonary resuscitation demonstration is the focus of the Feb. 13 Wellness Wednesday Program at Salem Library. Amy Bennett of Salem Regional Medical Center will present the program which will begin at 6:30 p.m. Adults are encouraged to participate in this opportunity to learn and/or review proper CPR technique. Water well workshop slated

A free workshop hosted by the Great Lakes Rural Community Assistance Program will be held at the Winona Friends Church, Whinnery Road, from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18. Homeowners relying on a water well as their main source of drinking water are encouraged to attend. Topics covered include water quality testing, water well treatment technology, general maintenance, considerations for new well drilling and backflow prevention. Grange ready for soup sale

Mile Branch Grange will hold its drive-thru soup sale on from 4-6 p.m. Thursday. Cost is $6 per quart. Available will be chili and chicken noodle soup. Soup must be preordered by noon on Wednesday. Soup will be packaged and delivered directly to your car. A heart shaped cookie will be given with each quart ordered. Call 330-821-8023 to reserve soup. SRMC sets luminary fundraiser

The Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) Foundation is sponsoring a luminary fundraiser for area residents to honor their family and friends while supporting SRMC’s cancer services. Community members are invited to sponsor a luminary in honor or in memory of a loved one for a $5 donation to SRMC’s Foundation. For each donation made, a luminary will be lit and displayed at The Vineyards at Pine Lake in Columbiana during the Foundation’s Annual Hearts & Stars Gala on March 23. Names of luminary honorees will also be highlighted at the event. To sponsor a luminary visit SRMC’s Look Nook Gift Shop through March 15 to complete a sponsorship form. The Look Nook is located on the hospital’s ground floor concourse. Tickets for the gala, featuring former Ohio State and NFL football star Chris Spielman, are sold out. Trip to Wheeling Casino slated
