BWD moves ahead

Funding sought for Fredericktown waterline project

LISBON — With a looming need to run waterlines to Fredericktown Heights, Buckeye Water District gave Manager Al DeAngelis the authority to apply for funding for the project.

Following the brief meeting held Thursday morning in Wellsville, DeAngelis said they plan to go after every funding source they can to help with the cost of the project.

The Ohio Water Development Authority loan he is seeking through the Water Supply Revolving Loan Account, would be 2 percent interest. DeAngelis told the board it would be either for 20 or 30 years depending on what they get.

The deadline to apply for this funding source is March 1, but DeAngelis mentioned at least one other place where he will be looking for some money for the project.

Residents have been awaiting the Fredericktown Heights Water Line project, which is going to address well water problems in the area of Fredericktown Road. Buckeye Water District is hoping to get started on the project this spring.

The resolution passed by the Buckeye Water District board gave DeAngelis not only the authority to apply for the money, but also to accept what is offered and entering into the agreement. The money will be used to cover the costs of planning, design and construction or the water facilities.

The next meeting of the Buckeye Water District is scheduled for 9 a.m., Thursday March 21. The project may begin in April or May.
