Tyler Howe of Lisbon wasn’t able to finish the last block of the parade route marching with the Salvation Army’s giant kettle because he had another obligation to attend to. When Howe came to the spot along the parade route where Ashley Craver stood in the rain watching the parade units go by, he stopped. He knelt on the rain-soaked pavement and surprised Ashley with an engagement ring and proposal. Confused for a few fleeting seconds at what he was doing, Craver stared at him and then reacted in surprise followed by what appeared to be an affirmative hug and kiss. Howe then placed the ring on her finger and the couple accepted congratulations from surrounding family and friends.
