Marine still serving

Thomas Scahill was sworn in by Common Pleas Court Judge Scott Washam on Wednesday with his wife, Melody, holding the Bible, and Judge Thomas Baronzzi watching. Scahill was reappointed to a second term on the Columbiana County Veterans Service Commission representing the Vietnam Veterans of America. Scahill served active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1964-67, and then spent 22 years in the Marine Corps Reserves, retiring as a master gunnery sergeant. He also served 33 years with the Salem Police Auxiliary and has been involved in the leadership of the American Legion Post 56, VFW Post 892, Amvets Post 45 and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 40. He has also been an active member of the Salem Honor Guard for the past 20 years. Melody Scahill also served active duty in the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserves.
