FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP — A woman suffered serious head injuries Saturday night after reportedly jumping from a moving car at the intersection of state Routes 558 and 164.

Ashley Lower, 26, of Columbiana, was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center by Leetonia Fire/EMS after the incident that occurred just before 10 p.m.

According to patrol Sgt. Ron Cox, Daniel Black, 29, of Washingtonville was driving the 2010 Chevy Equinox west on Route 558. Lower, his girlfriend, was the lone passenger, Cox said, and the two were arguing.

Black stopped at the intersection, the sergeant said, and as he proceeded through the intersection Lower jumped from the vehicle, striking her head as she landed.

Trooper TIm Myers and Sgt. Ben Dennison investigated the accident.

They charged Black with OVI.
