Village getting a new festival

LEETONIA–The annual Leetonia Artisans Festival will not be held this year, but it will be incorporated into a new, family friendly event aimed to draw a larger populace to the village and assist with the village’s park system.

The Dragonhold Fantasy & Microbrewery Festival and Market will be held this weekend at the historic Beehive Coke Ovens. The event features a full slate of activities aimed to please both children and adults from 1 to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. The coke ovens park is located at 999 Cherry Valley Road.

Enter the fantasy realm on the day Duke Aramis is choosing a bride. With tests of skill, creativity and goodwill, the bridal candidates will compete for the Duke’s hand and a precious golden amulet rumored to hold the secret to immortality.

The Masquerade Ball, under the soft glow of moonlight, masked with the unknown, is open to everyone from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Participants can bring their own mask or visit the mask merchant.

Cost to attend the festival is $5 for adults (ages 13 and over), $3 for children (ages 6 to 12) and free for children ages 5 and under. Weekend passes cost $8 for adults and $5 for children (ages 6 to 12).

General admission and weekend passes are available at the gate or online and all proceeds from gate and beer sales will go back to the village park system.
