Two signs indicating No Left Turn remain posted for drivers in the southbound lane of South Lincoln Avenue, prohibiting them from turning left onto East Pershing Street for the duration of the construction project on State Street. A police report from Tuesday afternoon said many drivers told an officer they could not see the signs, that they were too high. The officer started directing traffic at the intersection of Pershing and Lincoln after noticing vehicles were backed up all the way to Second Street, noting that people were not obeying the signs for No Left Turn and were tying up traffic. Once the congestion was cleared, the officer left. One of the signs is visible right next to the traffic signal where drivers would be looking to see if they can go or have to stop. Salem Service/Safety Director Ken Kenst again suggested that local residents avoid the area of the construction. The No Left Turn signs were erected in an effort to reduce congestion in that area.
