Morning Journal publisher dies

Larry Dorschner

LISBON — Morning Journal Publisher Larry Dorschner died Sunday at his home following a lengthy illness.

Dorschner, 67, had been publisher of the Morning Journal since 2000 and was named a group publisher by Ogden Newspapers in 2005, making him also responsible for The Review in East Liverpool and the Salem News. Dorschner was currently serving as publisher of The Review, as well as the Journal

Dorschner had previously served as publisher of Gateway Community Newspapers in Pittsburgh. He had also been an advertising consultant and publisher for Thomson Newspapers in the Kansas City region

When Thomson Newspapers began restructuring, Dorschner was moved to the Northeast Ohio Strategic Marketing Group in Boardman, working with the Tribune-Chronicle in Warren, and ultimately working with the start-up of the Town Crier Community Newspapers as publisher.

Early in his career, Dorschner had served as publisher of the Faribault Daily News in Minnesota.

A native of New Ulm, Minn., Dorschner was a graduate of Minnesota State University, Mankato.

He is survived by his wife, Pam; his son, Jamie; and his grandson, Ben.

Services are pending at the Davis Becker Funeral Home in Boardman.
