Woman found dead identified

SALEM — The body of a woman found in a South Lincoln Avenue apartment Friday has been positively identified as the resident, 47-year-old Rhonda Ramsey Reed.

“The death appears to be natural, pending toxicology results,” Detective Dave Talbert said Tuesday, adding the investigation is continuing.

Police had been called to the home at 4:15 p.m. Friday after a family member found her.

Talbert explained that “based on initial observations and the condition of the body, we wanted to assure this wasn’t an accident or obvious trauma.”

He spoke with family members and he is still working with the Bureau of Criminal Investigation regarding some of the evidence recovered from the scene.

No cause of death has been issued and he expects it could take some time until toxicology testing is finished by the Cuyahoga County medical examiner’s office, which also performed the autopsy.

The final ruling for cause of death and manner of death will be determined by Columbiana County Coroner Dr. George Wilson.
