Woman seriously injured in crash
LISBON — A Salem woman was taken by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown for serious injuries on Thursday after her vehicle was struck by a box truck at the Salem Grange Road intersection.
According to a preliminary report from the highway patrol, Bethany A. Uptegraph, 20, of Salem, was driving a 2005 Ford east on Salem Grange Road and failed to stop at the stop sign at the state Route 45 intersection in Salem Township, an intersection known as McCracken Corners. The accident occurred at around 9:30 a.m.
Uptegraph’s vehicle struck a 2014 Freightliner commercial box trailer driven by Robert W. Egan, 45, Massillon, who was southbound on state Route 45 and approaching the intersection.
Egan was not injured and was treated at the scene by KLG Ambulance.
Taylor L. West, 21, of Columbiana, a passenger in Uptegraph’s vehicle, was taken by KLG Ambulance to the Salem Regional Medical Center with moderate to light injuries, according to the report.
The patrol is still investigating the crash.
