Hartley Road bridge to close

The bridge located on Hartley Road will be closed starting Monday so that the bridge floor can be replaced. Engineer Bert Dawson announced that Hartley Road between Knox School Road and Bandy Road will be affected, although the road will be open to local traffic on both sides of the bridge construction site. The project is anticipated to last eight weeks.

Seats on NYC bus still available

Reservations are being taken until Wednesday for a New York City bus trip on July 14. It will depart at 11 p.m. from Salem High School. Those under 21 must be accompanied by an adult. Book sale scheduled in Salem

Salem Library’s Memorial Fund Association will sponsor a used book sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 16 in the St. Paul School gym. There will be a large choice of materials including fiction and non-fiction adult, young adult and children’s books and magazines. The sale will include DVDs, music CDs and books on CD. Tickets available for wine fest

Tickets are now available for the 2018 Columbiana Wine Fest July 20 and 21 at the Town Center at Firestone Farms. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the gate and include 10 tasting tickets, a souvenir Wine Fest glass and event program. Tickets can be purchased at retailers such as the Wine Connection, Moondance Boutique, the Columbiana Area Tourism Bureau (CATB) Office or online at bit.ly/columbianawinefest2018. Strawberry fest set in Winona

The seventh annual Winona Strawberry Festival will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. June 24 on the Quaker Meeting House grounds, at the corner of Cameron Street and Winona Road, Winona. There wil be vintage autos on display as well as crafts, dulicmer demonstrations, tours of the 1838 meeting house and many food selections. Kiko Auctions will sell items contributed by local businesses and residents at 1:30 pm. All proceeds will benefit the historical society’s museum, building and grounds projects.

Bus trip to Meadows Casino set

The East Liverpool High School Class of 1966 will sponsor a bus trip June 27 to Meadows Casino. The bus will leave at 10 a.m. and return at 6 p.m. at Calcutta Giant Eagle. The cost is $30 per person. To make a reservation or for more information call Linda at 385-9009.

Chamber tackles opioid epidemic

The Columbiana County Area Chambers of Commerce will present “Community Opioid Epidemic: Solutions to Recovery” from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. June 20 at the county Career and Technical Center. There will be featured speakers discussing solutions to the crisis and what has been successfully done to help individuals with addiction issues as well as local agencies that deal with the drug epidemic hosting vendor table displays.
