Dollar store readied
A portion of the former Giant Eagle building on Walnut Street in East Liverpool is being developed into retail space for a dollar store, with the city’s Design Review Board expected this week to consider signage for the store. The board will meet at 4:30 p.m. Thursday to consider an application filed by architect Bill Schroeder, Cocca Development of Boardman, for a new Dollar Tree sign for the building at 658 Walnut St. Also to be considered by the board are proposed facade changes to the building, which has been closed for many years. Among those described on the application are improvements and repairs to the exterior walls, loading area and parking area, as well as a new entrance and storefront for the Dollar Tree Suite portion of the building, which will encompass 9,752 square feet of the 17,345-square-foot building. According to the plans, the interior portion of the remaining building will remain vacant until developed for a future tenant. A call to the company for more information was not returned.
