Hively announces candidacy for appeals court seat

LISBON — One of the people who filed last week to run for Ohio 7th District Court of Appeals issued a news release announcing his candidacy.

Aaron Hively of New Middletown is running as a Democrat for the appeals court seat vacated by Judge Mary Degenaro, who was recently appointed to the Ohio Supreme Court. A native of New Waterford, Hively is a staff attorney and now a magistrate on the appeals court with nearly 20 years of court experience. In those positions Hively has prepared memoranda and draft opinions in more than 400 court cases.

Prior to becoming an attorney, he worked as a police officer in East Palestine, where he also assigned at one time to the Columbiana County Drug Task Force.

Hively has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Youngstown State University and earned his law degree from the University of Akron School of Law.

He lives in New Middletown with his wife and three children.
