Wellsville school board assigns committees

WELLSVILLE — A changing of the guard has taken place at the Wellsville Board of Education as a new president and vice president were selected.

During a reorganization meeting before Monday’s regular meeting, Nancy Francis was elected to serve as president and Gary Althiser, vice president. Both Francis and Althiser were sworn in by Treasurer Eva Elliott.

The board selected Richard Salsberry to serve as representative to the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center Board representative.

Tom Brophey was named to serve as the district’s legislative liaison officer for the Ohio School Boards Association.

Committee assignments are: athletic, Salsberry and Brophey; buildings and grounds/cafeteria, Althiser and Francis; policy, Ed Bauer and Salsberry; superintendent’s advisory, Bauer and Salsberry; community advisory, Althiser and Francis; transportation, Brophey and Althiser; finance, Bauer and Francis; personnel, Althiser and Francis with Salsberry, and Student Achievement Leadership Team (S.A.L.T.), Brophey, with Althiser as an alternate.

The board approved the appointment of Elliott as Ohio Public Record Training designee.

The board service fund for member expenses was set at $5,000.

In addition, the schedule of regular monthly meetings was set for 6:30 p.m. on the third Monday of each month

All meetings will take place at the conference room at Daw Elementary.
