Head-on collision

Morning Journal/Patti Schaeffer

Two male passengers in Ronald Possage’s silver 2004 Dodge Durango SUV were transported to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown following a head-on crash on Columbiana-Lisbon Road just north of Metz Road in Fairfield Township Friday afternoon. The passengers were transported by Columbiana EMS and New Waterford EMS. Beaver Township EMS checked over a baby at the scene but did not transport it. According to patrol trooper Mike Helmick, Douglas Davis was driving a maroon 2000 Dodge Dakota pickup south on Columbiana-Lisbon Road and lost control on the icy roadway, hit the guardrail off the right side of the road and bounced across the center line, striking head-on the vehicle driven by Possage, 69, of Lisbon. Davis, 20, of Leetonia, was cited for driving with a suspended license and failure to control. Davis’ passengers were not injured. The Columbiana Fire Department responded for traffic control and assisted with the injured males. Another vehicle slid off the road just south of the head-on crash and the report was handled by OSP Sgt. Ron Cox.
