Beaver board reorganizes

CALCUTTA — A few changes were made to some assignments along with its president and vice-president positions as the Beaver Local Board of Education held its reorganizational meeting Monday.

Held prior to its regular meeting, the board approved the nominations of Bill Croxall to return as president and Jerry Barnett as vice-president.

Barnett will remain as the Ohio School Boards Association liaison and Greg Eisenhart will serve as the OSBA student achievement liaison.

The board approved the assignments of nine committees, six of which remain the same as 2017, two with alternating members, and one with an additional member from the year before.

Remaining the same as last year were the Transportation Committee (handled by Patrick Clutter and Barnett), the Curriculum Committee (handled by Lance Shultz and Eisenhart), Athletic Committee/Booster Clubs and Buildings and Grounds (both handled by Croxall and Eisenhart), Labor Management/Negotiations (handled by Croxall and Clutter), and Community Advisory (handled by Croxall and Barnett).

New assignments are the Cafeteria committee with Eisenhart and Barnett, and the Finance committee with Shultz and Clutter.

In addition, the Policy Committee will include a second member this year as Croxall will join Eisenhart, who served in the committee alone last year.

The board kept the meeting times and dates the same: 7 p.m. the second Monday of each month, with a work session for the board prior to the regular meeting.

The board approved the annual dues to the OSBA, $4,842, and set the district’s service fund at $7,500, which will be used to cover expenses of school board members and representatives to attend seminars, workshops and other business actively for school board purposes. The fund’s amount can range from $2 per student to a maximum amount of $20,000.
