Palestine man pleads guilty to robbery

LISBON — The man who robbed the Save-A-Lot supermarket in Columbiana this summer while holding a clerk against her will pleaded guilty as charged.

Patrick A. Lattanzio, 28, East North Avenue, East Palestine, is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 18 after pleading guilty in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to robbery and abduction.

The unarmed Lattanzio walked into the grocery store shortly after it closed on July 20, using an unlocked employee entrance to gain entry. He grabbed a female clerk from behind, pushed her to the front of the store and demanded money. The cash registers were empty by then because the store had closed 20 minutes before, so Lattanzio took the clerk’s purse and fled.

Lattanzio also pleaded guilty as charged to complicity to commit robbery stemming from a robbery of the Family Dollar store in East Palestine on Dec. 2, 2016. He was in line to make a purchase, and when the clerk went to open the cash register Daniel Lattanzio entered the store and grabbed the cashier and demanded money.

Daniel Lattanzio, 23, East North Avenue, East Palestine, is scheduled to go on trial Dec. 12 for robbing the Family Dollar as well as Gorby’s Market in East Palestine on Dec. 7, 2016.

Patrick Lattanzio pleaded guilty last week in another case to using a knife in an attempt to rob Gilkinson’s Short Stop in East Liverpool in August.
