Driver ODs, car crashes into cornfield
CANFIELD–A driver died following an apparent overdose, causing a crash into a cornfield on U.S. Route 62 Monday afternoon.
Goshen police officer Ryan Young responded to a report of a vehicle that had traveled off the roadway on U.S. Route 62 north of Western Reserve Road at 2:50 p.m. He found the vehicle just south of Briarwood Court and notified the Mahoning County sheriff’s office.
Upon learning the driver was still in the vehicle, Young located the vehicle approximately 200 yards into the cornfield and found the male driver slumped over the steering wheel foaming from the mouth and nose. Young then administered Narcan in each of the man’s nostrils to no effect. Goshen officer Ryan Connolly arrived and assisted Young in attempting to revive the man, to no effect.
Green Township first responders arrived and determined the man to be dead.
The roadway was closed between Western Reserve and Leffingwell roads and the crash turned over to the highway patrol for investigation.
Officers cleared the scene at 5:30 p.m.
