Crossing guard will cherish the memories

COLUMBIANA — For the last 12 years Robert “Buck” McLaughlin made sure that Columbiana students were safe getting to and from school.

McLaughlin served as a crossing guard for the district until recently. He submitted his retirement resignation last month and it was approved by the board of education this week.

“Thank you for 12 wonderful years … the love, kindness, generosity, helpfulness, waves, smiles and laughs,” he said in the letter.

He also said that he will always cherish the memories made from being able to interact with students, teachers, bus drivers, and the parents that drove or walked their kids to school, while serving as a crossing guard.

“I am deeply blessed. My thoughts and prayers will be with you always,” he wrote.
