United school board handles several personnel matters

HANOVERTON–The United Local school board handled a number of personnel issues at its recent meeting.

Granted supplemental coaching contracts for the 2017-2018 school year were Joseph Karmazin, varsity head cross country; Chris Kadvan, varsity head boys basketball; Terry Kellison, varsity head girls basketball; and Carol Brown, varsity girls football cheerleading.

The board approved Luke Williams as summer physical education teacher and the recall of Jessica Mueller as high school language arts teacher for the 2017-2018 school year, as well as summer student workers Brady Panezott, Alexander Birtalan, Darren Blough, Christopher Moore, Madison Brown, Jessica Edwards, McKenzie Walton and Daniel Harvey for custodial; and Nick Varagliotti, Tucker Widlicka, Jesse Tolley and Brandon McKenzie for technology.

The board accepted the resignations of elementary special needs teacher Tori Adams and high school language arts teacher Jennifer Schaeffer at the end of their current contracts.

The board accepted donations of $6,000 donated anonymously for Eagle Scholarships, $166 from several United staff members to the Academic Challenge Team, $2,500 from the Monsanto Co. to the Future Farmers Association, $362 miscellaneous collected at the spaghetti dinner for the eighth grade Washington D.C. trip, $925 from the athletic boosters to the boys basketball team for future purchases, $1,500 from the junior class after-prom committee fall auction to the junior class and $600 from the athletic boosters to the track team for warm-ups.
