Two to go

Morning Journal/Patti Schaeffer

Only two buildings remain standing at the old county home site and the property has been cleaned up significantly by the new company, Russ James Contracting of Zanesville, that commissioners hired to finish the job that was started by Amish Olde Wood of Barberton. The smaller photo shows how the site looked in early February. The county home closed in 1977 and the buildings just continued to decay and collapse, until the county commissioners adopted a resolution in June 2016 to have the buildings razed. There is still a debate among commissioners to perhaps not knock down the gray building and use it for storage.
