Les Mis cast will perform benefit

The cast of Les Miserable will present a concert performance of songs from the show at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Crestview Local Performing Arts Center. There is no admission fee, but donations will be accepted which will benefit the Crestview Drama Program and Tim Van Horn’s fight against cancer.

Lisbon will dedicate park trail

A dedication ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lisbon Pool and Park. The dedication will be for the naming of the newly prepared MSG Joseph Daniel Harrison Memorial Trail. Harrison was a heavily decorated Army soldier who passed away last year in an accident near his home. The ceremony is open to the public.

Soup dinner benefit planned

Negley Lodge will be having a soup dinner benefit 4-7 p.m. April 29. Soup list includes oyster, chili, potato, beef barley and wedding. The cost is all-you-can eat for $8 and there will be a Chinese auction. proceeds benefit lodge member and local resident, Russ Shaffer.

Route 517 will not be closed

ODOT is announcing that state Route 517 will not be closed next week for two culvert replacements. The closure was to affect state Route 517 just west of East Fairfield between Signal Road and Raley Road.

Work set at Greenway Trail

The Columbiana County Park District will hold the annual spring cleanup of the Greenway Bike Trail at 9:30 a.m. April 29. The cleanup will kick off at the Teegarden Road parking lot, near the midway point of the 12 mile trail. Participants are asked to bring small hand tools such as bow saws, nippers, shovels and brooms. For more information call the park office at 424-9078.

Free dental services available

Free dental services will be offered for residents of East Liverpool from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. June 6, July 11 and Aug. 1 in the Westgate School parking lot in the Mercy Health Mobile Dental Van. The income scale that will be used to determine eligibility is Family Size and Income: one, $79,160; two, $62,920; three, $79,160; four, $95,400. A sliding scale is available for families who earn over the poverty guidelines. To make an appointment, call the health department at 386-7400.

Wildlife center fund-raiser set

Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center will hold the annual “Wine and Wildlife” fund-raising event from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. April 29. A Chinese auction will be held as well as tours of the center. A monetary donation to is requested to attend this event. All proceeds will help fund the programs at the center. Reservations are required by calling Karen Henry at 330-932-0908.

Discovering the new world

As part of the Live from Anywhere series, the Salem Library will host the program Age of Exploration at 6:30 p.m. May 25. The free program will explore a time period when cartographers were mapping the world and mariners were discovering new land masses with instructors from the Mariners’ Museum of Newport News, Va.
