Salem lights to be upgraded

ODOT has announced that work will begin next week to upgrade the traffic signals at nine different intersections in the city of Salem. Intersections that will be affected are Howard and State; Ellsworth and State; Broadway and State; Lundy and State; Lincoln and State; Pershing and Lincoln; Second and Ellsworth; Pershing and State; and Pershing and Broadway. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers.

Dinner/dance will help Fleming

The Fleming House will hold its annual spring banquet and dance from 3-9 p.m. Saturday at the Lisbon Methodist Church with guest speaker Laura Martin of Family Recovery. The evening includes a spaghetti dinner, dance, gift basket and 50/50 raffles as well as a door prize drawing. Tickets are $8 for adults, $12 for couples and $3 for children. All proceeds benefit the Fleming House.

Racing fans honor Sherry Ford

VFW Post 5532 will host the second annual Daytona 500 Sherry Ford Memorial Benefit starting at 1 p.m. Sunday at the post home, 575 S. County Road, Washingtonville. There will be drawings, Chinese auctions, raffles, food and prizes. All proceeds benefit Hospice of the Valley and the American Heart Association.

East Palestine sets K registration

East Palestine will hold kindergarten registration from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. March 6-8 and from 9 a.m.-8:30 p.m. March 9. Students who register during this time will get a backpack filled with art and learning supplies.

Vendors sought for Salem sale

The Salem Memorial Building Association will hold its annual Spring Indoor Yard Sale from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. April 8. Eight-foot tables and two chairs will be provided for $10.
