Man pleads guilty to sex charge

LISBON — Glenn E. Earich, Jr., 62, formerly of Liverpool Township, pleaded guilty in Common Pleas Court to gross sexual imposition, a lesser included offense than rape, and to domestic violence.

According to Assistant County Prosecutor Tammie Riley Jones, Earich was charged with rape after a relative reported being repeatedly raped by him at her home over several days. The domestic violence charge was added by prosecutor’s information.

Jones said the woman awoke to find Earich standing at the foot of her bed, naked and he continued to sexually assault her over several days. He also threatened her. Over the course of the next few days, the woman had told police, Earich raped her on four other occasions, dragging her up the stairs to the bedroom at one point.

The time period of the sexual assaults began on Easter Sunday and continued through April 7 earlier this year.

Jones said she intends to ask for the maximum sentence for the two charges to which Earich pleaded, a sentence which includes up to 18 months in prison and another 180 days in the county jail. He also could be fined up to $6,000 and will be required to register as a Tier I sexual offender. That classification will require Earich to register at least once a year and any time he changes his residence, employment or enrollment in any school.

When asked by Judge C. Ashley Pike if what Jones said happened is what happened, Earich responded, “Not exactly, but I have no comment.”

Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 5.
