Back-to-school party planned in East Liverpool
EAST LIVERPOOL – Thompson Park is site of a “Back-To-School-Bash,” sponsored by the East Liverpool School District for its students, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.
A story walk, presented by the Carnegie Library, will take place. And both a city police cruiser and a fire department truck will be on display.
In addition, face painting will be offered and a bounce house will be on site.
The day also includes music (provided by Ryan Stovall), photography (provided by The Image Tree Photo), an opportunity to sign up for a library card, free haircuts and free slushies.
East Liverpool City Hospital representatives will be offering blood pressure screenings for family members. And high school student-athletes will meet-and-greet younger students.
As part of the event, a school supply giveaway will take place, which includes sack packs, paper, pens, pencils, crayons, tooth brushes and toothpaste.
Students also will receive the opportunity to win a bicycle and safety helmet as a free drawing will determine both a boy and girl winner.
District parents, according to a release, have been notified, via letter and phone calls, about bus transportation locations and times for pickup and return to the Thompson Park event.
When families arrive, they are to first stop at the “welcome” table at the main entrance to the park, where each attendee will be provided a ticket for a free lunch (hot dog, chips, and a drink). Members of the staff as well as community volunteers will man the grill, in addition to supervising the day’s activities.
New Superintendent Melissa Watson also will be on hand to meet with parents and students.
