ELO pool ready to open

EAST LIVERPOOL – The municipal pool will open for the season at 1 p.m. today, and Mayor Jim Swoger said he is “looking forward to a great season.”

The pool will be open seven days per week from 1-7 p.m. except on days that the Dolphin Swim Team has a match, when it will close at 4 p.m. and the admission cost will be cut to $1 per person. Those days will be posted at the gate.

Daily admission rates have not changed from last year: Students up to 18, $2; 18 and over, $3; student passes, $25 all summer; adult passes, $35 all summer; family pass (two adults, up to three children), $75; family pass (two adults, more than three children), $100.

Lifeguards are on duty each day, and the concession stand will be open.

According to Swoger, who has again spearheaded the pool’s opening, “Saturday is supposed to be a really nice day. The swim team has been in it every day, and they’re not quivering.”

Throughout the summer, Swoger said there will be some night swims, some special awards for mayor’s movie nights, and some other special events planned.

At the end of the swim season, the always-popular Back to School Splash will again be held.
