No kidding

It may look like the surface of the moon, but the “crater” shown above is actually one of the many potholes spread across Jerome Lee Street in Lisbon near the county fairgrounds. The road’s surface has disintegrated to the point that drivers were actually pulling onto the sidewalk to avoid the ruts. Some of those unfortunate enough to actually hit the potholes found their vehicles tossed around by the impact. The sign shown above, posted to warn drivers of the approaching hazard, says it all. Lisbon isn’t alone. Many communities are finding the heavily traveled streets deteriorating quickly under the relentless cycle of freezing and thawing that is following one of the coldest winters our county has seen in decades.
