Water line break closes Liverpool school

EAST LIVERPOOL – North Elementary School will be closed Wednesday due to a water pipe break Tuesday that caused severe damage to the library and computer lab.

Superintendent James Herring said he was uncertain Tuesday night whether or not other buildings in the district will be closed Wednesday due to cold temperatures, although he said they had had trouble getting buses to start, which could make that necessary.

An elbow in a pipe to the water sprinkler system above the computer lab ruptured, most likely from frigid temperatures, according to Herring.

Water sprayed down onto some of the computers and the floor, running into the hallways.

District personnel and an outside company were cleaning up the resulting damage last night.
