Two charged after police find cocaine

LISBON – After an eight-month-long investigation, two men were arrested Friday at a residence outside Salineville by several law enforcement agencies, with a cache of cocaine also found.

According to a press release from the Columbiana County Drug Task Force, a search warrant was served at 39363 state Route 39 in a joint effort by the task force, county sheriff’s office, federal Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the county’s Special Response Team.

The warrant was served at the home of Anthony Cunningham, 56, who was charged with having weapons under disability, a third-degree felony.

Also found at the residence was McKenzie Smith, 26, who was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant out of Trumbull County for a felony probation violation after an original charge of possession of cocaine.

Officers seized more than $2,200 worth of cocaine from the home.

Also on Friday, based on a five-month investigation, the task force, Wellsville Police Department, DEA and sheriff’s office executed a search warrant at 725 Washington St., Wellsville. According to the county auditor’s website, the home is owned by Nina Graves.

Although no arrests were made at the Wellsville location, drug-related items were removed, and more than $1,700 in cash was seized, the task force reported.

Both search warrants were obtained in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court.
