Darlington man indicted for vehicular assault

LISBON – Thomas C. Grove, 46, Darlington, Pa., was served a secret indictment for two charges of aggravated vehicular assault.

According to court documents, on Jan. 5, 2010, Grove was involved in operation of a motor vehicle, which caused serious harm to another person. One of the charges, a fourth-degree felony claims Grove acted recklessly. The other charge is a third-degree felony. The indictment was issued by the Columbiana County Common Pleas Court grand jury in March.

According to a report in January 2010 by the Ohio Highway Patrol, Jerry Clark, 57, New Castle, Pa., was eastbound on state Route 14 in Unity Township at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5 when another vehicle driven westbound by Grove went left of center and struck Clark’s vehicle head-on.

Both Clark and Grove had serious injuries and East Palestine EMS responded. Clark was transported to the Jamieson Medical Center and Grove was taken to Beaver Valley Medical Center.
