Hilcorp seeks first permit to drill here
LISBON – Three new drilling permits have been sought and/or issued for Columbiana County over the past four weeks.
Two permits were issued for the Spiker property on Forbes Road in Yellow Creek Township. The applicant in both instances is Chesapeake.
Meanwhile, Hilcorp Energy applied for a permit to drill in Salem Township at the Grubbs IV site off Grafton Road. This is Hilcorp’s first permit in the county.
This brings to 67 the number of drilling permits issued or sought at 55 sites in the county since July 2010, with some sites having more than one permit. Only 28 wells have been drilled to date, and the only one producing is the Sanor Farms well in Knox Township, according to the state.
