Car stolen during ELO shooting recovered

EAST LIVERPOOL – The car stolen from the scene of a shooting on Dresden Avenue last Thursday night has been located, but not those driving it.

City police said the maroon Envoy was recovered Sunday by Wellsville police at 17th and Maple with the keys in the ignition. No one was around the vehicle, which is licensed to the shooting victim.

Neighbors had reported seeing the car parked there Friday, the morning after the shooting at 1060 Dresden Ave., according to city detectives, who had broadcast the description of the car following the incident.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification was called to process the vehicle for evidence.

The victim, a 47-year-old Michigan man who has not been identified by police, was treated at a Pittsburgh hospital for a gunshot wound to the hand and released. He is back in Michigan but is expected to return to the city to give a statement, according to detectives.

According to what police have been told thus far, two armed men entered the home, demanding drugs and money. When the victim denied having any money, a fight ensued and he was shot. He also suffered a head injury in the fight.

The two men then fled the scene in his vehicle.

Detectives are asking anyone with any information about the incident to call the police department at 330-385-1234, saying the anonymous tip line can be reached by pressing option number two when prompted.

Detectives also said this incident was not connected to a similar home invasion Tuesday morning in Liverpool Township in which two men armed with handguns entered a home, fought with two male residents and fled after stealing an undisclosed amount of money.

Township police are also seeking information about that case from anyone who knows anything about it.
