70th year for Columbiana couple

COLUMBIANA — Irene and Michael Starr, Columbiana, will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary with a private celebration with family at their home.

The former Irene Faddock married Michael Starr on Feb. 7, 1948 at Holy Trinity Church in Youngstown with the Rev. Peter Oleksiw officiating the ceremony.

Mr. Starr served with U.S. Navy in Hawaii and was stationed in Pearl Harbor during World War II and the Korean War. He was a mechanical engineer and worked as a draftsman, employed at several engineering firms as well as a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mrs. Starr was a homemaker and devoted mother.

The couple are members of St. Jude Church, Columbiana, and former members of St. George Catholic Church, Lisbon.

The couple have five children, Michalene (Len) Weiszer, Poland; Veronica Cochran, South Carolina; Stephanie (Ron) Crumbacher, Dayton; Pamela (Brian) Roberts, Columbiana; and Michael Starr, East Liverpool; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
