Kitzmillers celebrate 60th year

KNOX TOWNSHIP — Joyce and Gene Kitzmiller, of Knox Township, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary June 9.

The former Joyce Denny married Gene Kitzmiller on June 9, 1957 at Bethel United Church of Christ after a period of dating while playing in the Stardusters Orchestra. They have lived and worked the family farm for 60 years, raising various crops, hundreds of cattle, selling seed corn to local farmers and being members of Mile Branch Grange.

Mr. Kitzmiller worked as a United States postal carrier, served as an elder and deacon at Pine Lake Christian Church and served on the Columbiana County Steer Committee.

Mrs. Kitzmiller served many people in various ways through the church and other community organizations.

The couple enjoys camping, tractor pulling, bowling, gospel music, antique collecting and traveling, where they have visited numerous states, even going abroad to Germany, Italy, Austria and Switzerland.

They have three children, Sam (Michelle) Kitzmiller, JoAnn (John) Ross and Roger (Christine) Kitzmiller, 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
