Consers celebrate golden year

MINERVA – Richard and Phyllis Conser, East Rochester, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a dinner party attended by family and friends at the Hart Mansion in Minerva. The festivities were hosted by their daughter, Beth (Steven) Pottschmidt, Medina, and two grandchildren.

The former Phyllis Riffle, daughter of the late Wanda Riffle Peroz and James Riffle Sr., married Richard Conser, son of the late Celesta and Chester Conser, on April 20, 1963 at the Centenary Methodist Church in East Palestine. The Rev. Thomas Hammerton conducted the ceremony.

Mr. Conser served in the U.S. Army from 1957-59 being stationed in Bamberg, Germany. He retired from Columbia Gas of Ohio in 1989 after 37 years. He is a member of the New Lisbon Masonic Lodge.

Mrs. Conser is a homemaker and serves as the New Garden United Methodist Church board chairman. She is a past matron of the Salem Order of the Eastern Star and is a member of Kate DeWees.

They are members of the New Garden United Methodist Church.
