Priors celebrate 50 years

LEETONIA – John and Jacqueline Prior celebrated their 50th anniversary on Jan. 19. A surprise brunch hosted by their family and close friend Lois Mesmer took place at The Links at Firestone Farms. Family and friends were in attendance.

The former Jacqueline Burgess, daughter of the late William and Mary Burgess, married John Prior, son of the late William and Marguerite Prior, on Jan. 19, 1963 at St. Patrick’s Church in Leetonia.

Mr. Prior served as an airman first class in the 34th Munitions Maintenance Squadron from 1961-65 and was stationed at Lincoln Air Force Base, Lincoln, Neb. He was employed by Cherry Hill Furniture, later Stearns and Foster, until its closing in 1992, where he was plant manager. In the late 1970s, he owned and operated a TV repair business. He also worked at Skelly Foam and Gasser Chair.

Mrs. Prior was a homemaker.

They have two daughters, Tammy (Mike) King, Youngstown; Debbie Harp, Clinton; one son, Gary (Cheryl) Prior, Salem; five granddaughters, and two great-grandson.
